Andy is a venture scout leader and this weekend his "troop"?? are doing a bike tour, 3 days with camping in between. He asked me if i would ride with him to check the route of the first leg from Redditch to Hinton on the green nr Evesham. @charlottetcr came with us on what, after a murky start turned out to be a lovely sunny day. Andy is a keen walker and thinks nothing of walking 25 miles in a day but admitted he hadn't ridden more than 10 miles in one go for about 3 years.Cycling fitness is quite different to walking fitness and Andy did struggle and any uphill gradient. An unfamiliar borrowed bike didn't help either but we tried to go at his pace and encourage him when he was suffering.. it was the slowest 50+ miles we have ever done but a whole lot of pain for Andy, I do have to admire his attitude and he never gave up and didn't complain at all. Luckily when he rides this route again at the weekend it'll only be half the distance!
