night riding is a unique experience, it's not a just grab the bike and go exercise. it takes a lot of planning, charging lights, making sure the bike is functional and making the most of any daylight you have to do any repairs or maintenance (for those of us without a shed or garage with lights) for example i fitted new brake pads in the 30 minutes before leaving for work. how ever, no matter how well prepared you are it's easy to knock something on the bike that becomes an annoying noise, which when you can't see what is causing it gets escalated in your mind to a warped disc, worn brake pad, broken spoke etc, it the rear wheel about to collapse on the next rough downhill, will you be thrown into the dark undergrowth etc etc, in the case luckily Ian spotted the problem, a zip tie has moved around on the chainstay and the head was rubbing on the tyre wall. given enough time is could have worn through the wall and caused a flat. once moved the noise stopped and Karma was restored but it just shows that it takes a little more dedication to be a night rider
