the shakedown ride

afternoon delight by rOcKeTdOgUk
afternoon delight, a photo by rOcKeTdOgUk on Flickr.
i fitted 9 gears to the Wanga 69er and having moved brake levers, added a shifter, grips, bashguard and chain device i needed to fine tune it all so a ride armed with a multi tool was called for. it was a fine day, quite warm and bright. making my way through the woods it was markedly different to last weekend, 4 days of rain have certainly made a difference and the going was a slog through the thick gloopy mud and leaf litter. of course when the bike left the sanctuary of Matt's garage the brakes and shifting were spot on, now though, 48 hours later and it not being ridden since, well it was all to cock! so i moved the levers to a better position, the shifter too, i couldn't get the lowest two gears so did a bit of trailside indexing and stopped the rear brake rubbing. i also moved the stem so it was in line with the front wheel! how did that happen?? anyway after that it all worked swimmingly and i got on with the job of riding and taking picutres and as you can see from above, getting a bit wet.
ride 130
19 miles
total 2140
commute 1002
total+commute 3142
