it's been very mild and very wet this winter but on today's ride we encountered snow, albeit short lived there was enough to settle on the leeward side of trees. this was combined with lots of heavy rain showers and interspersed with warm sunshine and blue skies .
It was very wet, very muddy, cold and great fun!. It was also difficult to know what to wear, i chose a thin waterproof which was a little too hot when the sun shone but spot on when it was raining.i was very jealous of Dan's water proof shorts and a wet backside isn't fun (no mud protection on this bike) glasses were abandoned early on as the spray from the front wheel made them useless, squinting and closing the eyes was the best technique. we did quite a bit of technical climbing made more treacherous buy the now slick again roots. there was a little cheeky riding near the end and we finished in bright sunshine.
it took longer to hose myself down than it did the bike when i got home.
ride 34
17 miles
total 578
