we've been avoiding the woods because it's horribly wet and muddy in there, but tonight we tried a small section and within 20 metres regretted it immediately and over the next 100 metres i came off twice and Ian three times, the roots and mud might as well have been sheet ice they were that slippery. we detoured sharply and headed for more firmer ground but this is rather scarce and we slipped our way around the hills. it got dark quickly, much more quickly than it should at this time of year, another consequence of the rubbish weather
