of course it was dry when i left the house and of course within 2 miles it was chucking it down, but i thought WWJVD? and carried on and in the words of @Mullerton the Velocake.co.uk founder i BtFU (Belged the Fuck Up) in fact it turned out to be a proper Belgian ride, lots of mud, legs spattered with it, shorts with grit down the back (very uncomfortable) and blood trickling down my shin, sweaty but still grinning. even the shower tray afterwards looked like and autumn/winter ride aftermath.
