Dan's maiden ride on the Heckler, the first 27.5" wheeled bike seen in the NWAlps. At the start it was immaculately clean and showroom fresh at the end it looked like it belonged to the trails, muddy, wet and with the tell tale grinding sound coming from the drivetrain.
We mixed up the route today as commitments meant an early finish but we still managed to test the new bike down "Bono, Bunch of C**** and Broken leg" and the associated climbs to regain the lost altitude.
Now whether the middle size wheel coped better than Dan's 26" wheeled bike is still to be decided but the grin on his face told us all we needed to know
