just a quick afternoon ride to blow away the cobwebs. Although it was nearly thwarted by the tree cutting in the woods, lots of areas were taped off and just yards after i entered the woods i had to turn around and retrace my route. exiting the woods i caught my handlebar on a thick branch, over corrected and hit a root and foundmyself lying on the ground looking a bit embarrassed. thankfully the road i'd emerged onto was quiet and my ungainly dismount went unnoticed. This crash sort of set the scene for the rest of the ride. it's pretty rooty here and even though the ground is relatively hard still there's now a greasy layer on top which, combined with damp roots is lethal, trails that last week were familiar, fast and grippy are now almost alien, usually in the summer you keep the wet riding skills because we don't have one, now I've got to re learn everything. it was still fun though even if the high wind was a bit of a chore
