Dan was on holiday from work too so suggested an early ride to beat the heat, it didn't really work out as it was really hot by 9am. we did some trails around the woods and it was quite pleasant if you kept moving in the shade from the trees, we then did perhaps the fastest descent down Bono and the tank slapper kicking up clouds of dust on the way. we took the newly reopened route to clent, the muddy churned up conditions of spring now replaced with wash board hard baked concrete like dirt and shoulder high grass in places, its a very urban trail with street signs covering the little stream and the bigger of the holes in the ground. Lemon drizzle and tea was guzzled before heading homeward via some of the flat land trails including Pepper wood, Egg farm and Dodford Inn. then a trail not used for a long time, "the Cut" sometimes blocked with trees, garden refuge or the odd burnt out car but thankfully today nice and clear. We managed to resist the lure of Bird's brewery and made it home just before the hottest part of the day.
