it's got to the time of year were rides starting late in the day are easily achievable and you get some stunning sunsets into the bargain, The other bonus is that the woods are almost always deserted at this time of day. Matt showed me a "new" trail, inverted commas used there as it's not really new, we've ridden it before but recently a fallen tree has changed the route of the trail and we do it today in the opposite direction to how we usually ride it. even someone laying logs across the trail couldn't dilute the fun, the obstacles just made it more interesting. the trails were a little tacky in places thanks to the recent rain but it didn't ruin the ride. I showed Matt he new version of "Bono" and looped around via bittel lakes before heading back up the hill into the main part of the woods and home.
