and so begins Single Speed February. a self imposed challenge to use a one geared bike on all off road rides this month. It might also help to build up a bit of leg strength and it'll certainly cut down on the wear and tear components are taking in the present conditions. Trying to avoid the worst of the mud it was a mainly a canal and pathways ride but it was mainly down into the valley and then back up, there were some "interesting" bits as seen in the picture and some of the road surfaces are awful, full of pot holes and covered in all the detritus that has washed off the fields. We decided to extend the ride up to the Lickey Hills visitor centre, some where so close to home I've never tested the cake there. Disaster! the cake was delicious, although not displayed attractively in its covering of cling film it tasted wonderful. I'm going to have to go the long way and only go via the centre on the way home otherwise It'll be a calorie over load!
