i havent ridden in Hanbury woods for years and years, my memories of are that we got to it after a long cold ride involving climbing up a bridlepath that was basically a river, i also seem to remember riding through pitcher oak wood on the same day too, anyway, we took a sneaky trail (why do permissive paths always turn into footpaths??) from the canal around the brush works and up the hill to the woods, keeping mostly to the smaller side (a road splits it) the boys found a few drops and mounds to play on before going across the other side where all the walkers go but we were disappointed to find that a lot of the old tracks into and out of the bomb hole had been deliberately blocked with tree felling, still we spent a good half an hour exploring the various tracks there. once we'd exhausted most of the trails we popped for coffee and cafe, as you do before riding via the local lanes back to the canal and home. unfortunately the last 10 miles of the ride were in the rain that had come earlier than the forecast, still it might be good training for Novembers road trip!
ride 140
22 miles
total 2699
commute 741
