fully kitted out with lights and anti bug spray Ian and i rode out into the early evening to blue skys and cloud upon cloud of black flies and midges. it probably didn't help that we we riding by the canal and the resevoir but it was nice to be kicking up dust on the downhills for a change rather than getting a face full of mud flicked up. as it began to get dark it also started to get cold very quickly with an almost Autumn like damp in the air, lights were switched on and while riding along a dark lane toward home Ian found an Owl, it thad been hit by a car we think, it was still warm but very dead, it looked graceful even in death with huge talons, a sad end for a magnificent animal.
