the sorbet mud ride

bitterly cold ride, snow (or more like frozen ice particles) at the start, this made it a two merino top day, full tights too and buff-a-clava. the first part of the ride is all on tarmac and fairly uneventfull, one stop for coffee (took my own as i know there's no cafe stops on this route) then onto the 10 mile climb of the canal. the mud here was partly frozen and seemed to stick to the tyres in clumps which then just flung masive divots off. these collected around the bottom bracket and resembled a substance not a million miles away from consistancy of sorbet. i had to stop about every mile to remove the clag as it was collecting around the N-Stop chain device and causing chainsuck, i resorted to riding on the edge of the towpath where it was grassy to get a longer ride between unloadings. by the end my feet were frozen again but the rest of my toasty warm.
ride 22
24 miles
total 405
