oh dear, i think i didn't flick the switch to charge the lights, the red light means that the battery is dischared half way, not a good start, but at least tonight was a ride to test matt's knee and back so wasn't going to be too long, even so i took the opportunity to turn them off whenever i could. Trails became very icy after the rain of earlier so it was a bit of a toptoe around. as for matt's back and knee? well they were fine...however his hip was giving him trouble, he needs some warm weather to sort him out i think
