the wet night ride

the first wet night ride for ages, we had a heavy downpour at 5pm but the sky looked blue on the horizon so i was hopeful it was just a shower, but minutes after the ride began at 7pm the deluge resumed, but it was warm still and we persevered. all the roots and wooden steps were very sketchy in the wet, especially "bunch of C**Ts" which has roots to the side of the slick steps, when the rear wheel slides into the turn the wrong way and toards the drop it is most disconcerting!. again it was hard to follow the established trails because of the leaves with the added hazard of rain covered specs and if you remove them inevitably mud finds it's way into your eye.swapping back into the other part of the forest we tackled some more trails which were very exhilarating in he conditions before heading home. predictably as i was putting the bike away and stripping off wet clothing the rain stopped!
