the night ride

second totally dark night ride of this season and again a bit of drizzle, very warm but surprisingly dry given the tremendous amount of rain we had two days ago, but i think the ground was so dry beforehand it just ran off and away. used the "spider eye" lights lent to me by Troutie but i had issues with the positioning, i think it was too low and so the beam wasn't far enough down the trail, more experimenting needs to take place. because of this i used the Liberator which was as awesome as ever, one thing you get with night riding with powerful lights is that they throw a big shadow off trail obstacles, especially roots which give the illusion of being bigger than they are and having a bigger drop behind them, a couple of times i had to tell myself that i could ride down them as i had two days before and they weren't as bad as they look!. this does make for a cheap adrenalin rush though!
