Tim Carpenter from Northumberlandbikebreaks.com recommended this route up to Simonside woods overlooking Rothbury, certainly a steep pull for this flatlander, probably nothing for a local, but well worth it for the views, played a bit in the woods and then consulting the map tried to plan a circular route finishing on a disused railway, unfortuneatly it was just that, disused! overgrown and immpassible so again got the map out and found a bridleway going in the right direction, thick grass and entirely uphill made it tough going though, would be miserable in rubbish weather but thank goodness it was warm and sunny
